Spicy Bloody Mary with Pepper Vodka

Ingredients

  • 3 C tomato juice
  • ¼ C + 2 Tb fresh lime juice
  • ¼ C fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tb fresh horseradish, finely chopped or 1 Tb prepared horseradish
  • 2 Tb fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 2 tsp garlic, minced
  • 1 Tb Worcestershire sauce, or, to taste
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • C pepper vodka, recipe follows
  • Pickled okra, for garnish
  • Celery stalks, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the tomato juice, lime juice, lemon juice, horseradish, ginger and garlic and blend until smooth.
  2. Season the mixture, to taste, with the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  3. Store the mixture in a non-reactive container.
  4. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 6 hours and up to 3 days before serving.
  5. Fill 6 large (16-oz) tumblers with ice, divide the tomato juice mix among the glasses, and divide the vodka evenly among the glasses.
  6. Garnish with the pickled okra and celery stalks and serve.
